Description

Umbrella trees are distinctive by the large, pink and purple cup-like structures that protrude from them. These cup-like structures collect rain and absorb radiation, and then their trunk-like bodies exchange gases with the surrounding environment. They lead long lives, growing to the point of maturity quickly compared to many other plant species of its size, but surviving for centuries in a slow-growth state where they primarily focus their energy on replacing the cup-like structures as creatures of Alluria consume them.

Habitat Details

Umbrella trees live in the terrestrial habitats of Alluria. Making up the majority of the forest, these trees cover a huge portion of the enclosure, as a variety of species use their leaves and bark for camouflage, food, nests, and protection from predators. A few individuals manage to successfully grow beyond the bounds of the rainforest biome.

Diet Details

Umbrella trees are autotrophic, absorbing radiation through the large, cup-like structures that cover them and exchanging natural gases with the environment through their trunks to produce their own energy.

Reproduction Details

Umbrella trees produce fruit that are enticing to many of the creatures that inhabit the Allurian forest. When these creatures consume the fruit, they track its seeds throughout the forest, spreading them and allowing new plants to grow.

Interesting Fact

Fruits of the umbrella tree, while appealing to some creatures of Alluria, are toxic to humans. Upon consumption of these fruits, a human would have about an hour before they began to feel symptoms such as rashes, extreme fevers, and possible anaphylaxis.
